January UPDATE!: ESP is currently on "winter break" due to extreme temperatures and weather conditions (read more about that here). Before break Hotshot was working on learning lead changes, starting to course division height jumps, learning fundamentals such as rollbacks, gymnastics, etc. We expect him to come back better than where he left, more mentally mature, and be ready to hit the show circuit this spring. We have no doubt he'll be able to qualify for the Pony Jumper Championships at Pony Finals this year with a gritty kid that likes a forward ride!
Hotshot is a young small. Large stride that will easily make the distances. He’s fancy enough to be competitive on the circuit and a real Pony Finals or Young Hunter Pony Championships contender. Though with his forward and bold attitude I could also see him being a great ride for a kid wanting to try eventing or jumpers, or, due to his gorgeous movement, the dressage arena could be his calling. Not a kick ride.
He has been started slowly and correctly this past year. Learning dressage basics of training-first level. Currently coursing around and learning fundamentals over small jumps and cross-rails, as well as some cross country type jumps (small drops, ditches, etc.). He has *easily* cleared 2'9". Check out that jump on the lunge pictures below, he definitely has some scope on him! Super smart and a very fast learner. He's ready to take a kid as far as they want to go!
Not spooky. Good on the ground, friendly, extremely curious, and takes everything in stride. Comes running when he’s called and “will work for peppermints”. He is 100% pony though, mischievous and smart. All that bundled into a young pony means he will need to be in a program to excel to his full potential, regardless of competitive venue. Perfect for a trainer's kid with big dreams.
